We are pleased to offer a new take on scooters through a first-of-its-kind pilot with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority! This pilot will last from January 15, 2020 until October 14, 2020. During this pilot, we hope to learn how we can expand the products we offer for rental to reach a wider audience in the city.
At the start of our Adaptive Scooter Pilot, we will be offering short term rentals of three-wheeled “scooters.” These devices are designed to be stood or sat upon, depending on the user’s needs.
Interested users can request an Adaptive Scooter in the following ways:
- By Webform
- Through Spin’s Customer Support (click on the Spin logo in the bottom right corner of your app!)
- By calling Spin’s support phone line: (888) 262-5189
- By emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Requests should be made at least 2 hours in advance of your intended rental time. Rentals are subject to availability of the devices.
At the start of our Adaptive Scooter Pilot, devices can be picked up from 1144 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94105.
During your reservation process, you will be asked where you would like to return the device. At this time, there are three other “pod” locations in the city you may return the device to. You may also return the device to Spin’s office at 450 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94105, or to the initial rental location.
Over the course of our pilot, we plan to increase the number of rental and return locations. Stay tuned!
Spin’s Adaptive Scooters will be available to rent Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM PST. All devices must be returned by 5:30 PM.
Spin may adjust the rental times for its Adaptive Devices during the course of the pilot which is through October 14, 2020. We will keep users updated of any changes to service hours.
Rental of an Adaptive Scooter is free to the user, and is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
After providing your name, email, and phone number via one of the above listed methods, you will receive an email confirming the details of your upcoming rental. If there are any issues with the information in the email, or if you do not receive an email with an hour of making your reservation, please contact us via email: email@example.com or by phone at (888) 262-5189.
Before your reservation time, please make sure to install our app for either iPhone or Android. Links to the download pages can be found within the email you receive. If you do not have a smartphone, or are having trouble downloading the app, please reach out to our support team!
Adaptive Scooters should not be utilized during inclement weather, including rain, snow, heavy fog, high winds, or high or low temperatures. Your reservation may be cancelled or rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.
Adaptive Scooters should not be used where cars regularly travel, such as roadways, highways, or other locations where users may have to share space with automobiles.
When operating upon sidewalks or in locations with active pedestrians, you must at all times yield to pedestrian traffic.
Failure to abide by any of the above rules may lead to account suspension, or termination.
